Tales From The Road Trip

My dear hubby surprised me with a little overnight trip for our 3rd wedding anniversary. We went to Benson, AZ and visited the Kartchner Caverns. Kartchner Caverns is a live cave that was discovered in 1974. It is absolutely amazing.

We took the guided tour with approximately 10 other people. While we were touring, we kept hearing a squeaking noise. Over and over I said out loud, "Oh my god, is that a bat? Are there bats in here? Am I going to get rabies?". My hubby thought this was very amusing. He thought it even more amusing when we realized that it wasn't a bat at all. One of the people on the tour had a squeaky shoe. eheheh.

After the tour, we drove down to Tombstone for a little sightseeing. I've always found the history of this town interesting. Yes, I must admit, the only history I know of it was learned from watching the movie Tombstone. Gotta love Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday. I was a little disappointed. On every corner, people very badly dressed as cowboys and what not, were harassing us with flyers for gun battles and restaurants. I know they have to generate revenue but it was TOO much. The best part was the tour of the Bird Cage Theater. They have created a museum inside and it was very eerie but also interesting. These are the actual 'bird cages' inside. These little cribs were used by the prostitutes to "entertain" their patrons for $25 a night. Interestingly enough, that's $5 more than it cost to buy a steak for dinner from a nearby saloon. Pretty sad when your goodies are worth about the same as a steak dinner.

Not much knitting news to share. I did a little car knitting on my Karaoke Cable scarf but not enough to enjoy much progress.
Now that we're home I'm looking forward to finishing at least one project. We'll see how much I really do accomplish over the weekend. I always have such high hopes for myself but usually come Monday morning I still have the same 12 unfinished projects surrounding me. So is the life of a multi-project knitter. One of these days maybe I'll explore the benefits of monogamy.

Congratulations on your anniversary!! And what a fun trip too! Hee hee. Pretty funny thought that your "goodies" aren't worth much more than a steak dinner ;) I had to laugh at that observation!

We did a similar cave tour in Montana one year and there was a very scared little girl who asked if there would be bats inside and the tour director asked her, "Do you *want* there to be?" at which she shrieked "NO!!!". It was pretty funny :)

Love the new scarf and don't worry - we *all* have trouble with knitting monogamy!

Congratulations again!
